LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Lee County deputies are investigating a possible shooting outside of The Shoppes at Lehigh on Saturday night.

One witness says she was inside the Subway when she heard four gunshots and then saw two cars speed off.

“When I looked over I saw a lady run into the door because she got so scared she almost fell onto the ground,” she said.

She says she was in the building for no more than four minutes before the shooting. More than a dozen other witnesses were inside stores when they heard the gunfire.

“I know one of the buildings got shot twice and it ricocheted between a man’s legs–like he almost got shot. And if I was in my car, I would have got shot.”

Her car was the center of the crime scene as two bullets are lodged near the engine.

“One in the hood and one in the fender by the tire.”

Bullet casings were scattered in the back parking lot and the plaza was taped off for several hours.

Witnesses say it was both a terrifying and frustrating situation.

“I don’t want to lose my life over somebody doing something stupid. They need to get their act together,” she said.

LCSO has not released any information on the incident.
