PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell announced he’s seeking re-election in 2016. During his announcement Monday morning at the old courthouse in Punta Gorda, Prummell promised to continue to make the county a great place to live, work and play. “The last three years has been a great ride, we had our ups and downs, we’ve cried a little bit. But overall, I love this county, I love this organization that I basically grew up in. I’ve spent my entire law enforcement career here in Charlotte County, and I want to continue on,” said Prummell. The sheriff added, since he’s been in office, crime in Charlotte County has gone down nearly 30 percent.
