FMB town council to vote on seasonal parking lots

Published:

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla.- Today, the Fort Myers Beach town council will vote on whether to require seasonal parking lots on the island to remain open year round.

Currently, there are two parking lots open seasonally, one on Mango Street and one on Crescent Street.

The proposal would require those lots to stay open all year and also spruce up landscaping.

Vice Mayor Dan Andre says, “we are not taking anyone’s parking privileges away. All we are saying is lets clean up the lots a little bit, make them look nice. And we are not preventing anyone from parking and we are not decreasing the size of the lots.”

There will be a public hearing on the issue during today’s 2 p.m. meeting and then a final vote. If approved, the new rules would go into effect in October.
