Open enrollment approaching for school choice in Lee County

FORT MYERS, Fla. – School Choice open enrollment begins Monday, January 11 in Lee County. The system is lottery based, with each student getting an equal chance at attending their first choice.

Students entering Kindergarten, 6th, or 9th grade are eligible, as well as students new to the district and currently enrolled students who would like to change schools for next school year. The registration deadline is 4 p.m. on April 1.

On Friday, pre-printed applications will be mailed to parents of Pre-K students attending Lee County Public Schools who are eligible for kindergarten for 2016-2017, as well as current fifth and eighth grade students who currently attend a Lee County Public School.

The pre-printed applications will not be provided to new students in the district or students currently attending a charter school. If families received a pre-printed application, they are strongly encouraged to apply online.

If a student is new to the Lee County School District. In that case, parents must register in person at one of three locations:

  • Lehigh Acres – 1262 Wings Way, Suite 207
  • Cape Coral – 370 Santa Barbara Blvd. N.
  • Fort Myers – 2855 Colonial Blvd.

Parents are asked to bring all the necessary paperwork with them including, birth certificates, photo identification and proof of address.
