Digital Girl Scout cookie sales back in Lee County

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Girl Scout cookie sales are back online in Lee County.

This is the second year for digital sales within the organization. But a local troop leader said it’s about more than just selling.

“It teaches the girls how to really market and navigate in the world today,” said troop leader Jennifer Rodriguez.

Rodriguez said she feels online sales are also safer, because they keep some girls from going door to door.

“As her mom and her troop leader, I feel comfortable having her sell online rather than to strangers,” said Rodriguez.

It’s up to the girls’ families to decide how to conduct sales, though. Door to door sales are still allowed.

Some scouts, like Elsee Cribbs, said they like doing both.

“My favorite part is probably selling them and knocking on doors,” said Elsee.
