ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – Orlando’s Major League Soccer team has signed a 10-year commitment to play in the city.

The Orlando City Soccer Club last week agreed to pay the city $18 million for the land on which the team is building a $155 million stadium.

The Orlando Sentinel obtained the contract through a records request.

The newspaper reports that an earlier draft had the team committing to play in Orlando for 25 years, and leaving the city would have required the team to give the land and stadium to the city for free.

But the final version of the contract doesn’t include that language.

A spokeswoman for Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer says the 25-year figure was just a starting point in negotiations.
