Photo: Florida Gov. Rick Scott TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Florida has sent a fleet of dump trucks bearing messages of warmth to assist snow removal efforts in Washington, D.C. According to a statement Wednesday from Gov. Rick Scott’s office, 15 trucks have been dispatch north to help clear more than 20 inches of snow dumped on Washington by last weekend’s blizzard. All the trucks bear cheerful, yellow signs showing a snowman that is hitchhiking and holding a sign that reads “Florida Bound.” The signs also carry the logo of Florida’s tourism agency and the message, “Sharing the sunshine.” 15 trucks are on their way from the Sunshine State to help dig out D.C. from the snow with a friendly message: pic.twitter.com/BLaxvmQJmK — Rick Scott (@FLGovScott) January 27, 2016 Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Bryan W. Koon says coordinating snow removal assistance for Washington “provides a great opportunity to test the flexibility of our resources and methods.” About 30 state employees also are helping with the removal efforts.
