TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – The Florida Lottery had a record-setting month, reaching $716 million in ticket sales.

Lottery officials said in a news release the record is thanks in part to sales generated during the rollovers that resulted in the $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot drawing on Jan. 13. It was also the best January on record for scratch-off ticket sales with more than $333 million.

January’s sales total reflects a 32.75 percent increase over the previous high sales mark of $539 million in March 2015.

The news release states that lottery officials are expected to transfer $213 million to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund for January. That’s a 41 percent increase over the previous highest monthly transfer record of $151 million in May 2013.
