TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Lee County Court has appointed a new judge to replace Judge Frank Mann, Jr. who retired last year.

Gov. Rick Scott announced that Assistant State Attorney Devin George, 36, will fill Mann’s position. George has been an assistant state attorney since 2006.

The vacancy was created amid controversy surrounding Mann. The Judicial Qualifications Commission was planning to launch an investigation into complaints about the former judge before he announced his retirement.

His announcement was made two years before his term was to end.

George is from Fort Myers and a member of the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee.
