WASHINGTON (AP) – Vice President Joe Biden is heading to the Middle East this week for a visit that won’t focus on the flare up of violence between the Palestinians and Israelis.

The White House says Biden’s trip to United Arab Emirates, Israel and Jordan will includes talks with key leaders on U.S. economic and energy interests, as well as security concerns about Iran and Syria. But Biden will not bring any initiative on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The White House has said it does not believe either side has the political will for reviving the peace process.

Biden’s visit will include a stop in Masdar city, a model for a clean-energy city in Abu Dhabi.
