MILWAUKEE (AP) – Wisconsin health officials have revised the number of deaths linked to a widespread blood infection. The state Department of Health Services announced late Wednesday afternoon that the bacterium Elizabethkingia has been tied to 15 deaths rather than 18 as the agency reported earlier. DHS officials said in an email statement that they made the revisions in part because one death occurring in a person with the infection couldn’t be confirmed some information from various sources was incorrect or duplicative. The agency says the total number of cases stands at 48.
