LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- A mother who says her 14-year-old daughter was attacked and sexually assaulted by three men in Lehigh Acres is pleading for help to find the suspects.

“These men, these three men, animals are still out there and can be doing this to other children,” said the woman, who is not being identified by WINK News to protect the identity of her 14-year-old.

According to the woman, her daughter was walking home from a Dollar Store off Lee Boulevard on Sunday with a friend when they were approached by a group of men in a dark colored SUV.

“They violated them in a number of ways,” the victim’s mother said.

Holding them at gunpoint, the woman says the teens were sexually assaulted and were then dropped off just a half mile up the road on Leonard Boulevard.

“It is my understanding that one out of every four women are sexually molested in their lifetime,” said Mabel Lopez, a licensed clinical psychologist.

Lee County saw 80 more sex crimes in 2015 in comparison to 2014, and law enforcement officials say this is partly because more people are reporting the crime.

“As a community, it’s a community’s job to make sure that they are caught so that they can’t do this to anybody else,” said the victim’s mother who is asking residents to help track down the men.

The mother says her daughter was unable to grab a license plate number but described the men as having dreadlocks.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
