DELAND, Fla. (AP) – A 9-year-old golden retriever has been found after her owner’s SUV was carjacked.

Volusia County deputies say the suspect crashed into a utility pole in DeLand a short time after taking the vehicle Wednesday, causing a fire and power outages in the area.

Deputies say they’re not sure how the dog named Kenzie escaped the vehicle, but she was reunited with her family.

The teen suspect faces a carjacking charge. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Deputies say the woman was stopped at a red light when the suspect opened the passenger door and got inside the SUV.

The woman screamed and jumped out of the driver’s seat with the golden retriever still inside.
