Machete-wielding Immokalee man sends woman to the hospital

IMMOKALEE, Fla. – A 48-year-old woman was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital Friday night after she was struck by a machete, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident happened on the 400 block of 15th Street SE at about 10:40 p.m., said authorities, who added they responded to the home earlier in the day for a disturbance call.

Albert Zamora, 38, is facing charges for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was treated and released from a local hospital, then taken to the Collier County jail.

Zamora lives in the same home as the victim, Silvia Casasola-Enriquez. The extent of their relationship was not immediately known.
