FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. – An armed man chose the wrong night to attempt a robbery, a 7-Eleven clerk said Tuesday night.

“Put the money in the bag!” the man said, as he pushed his gun over the counter.

The attempted robbery occurred before 9 p.m. at the 7-Eleven on Estero Boulevard and Driftwood Lane, authorities said.

But this Fort Myers Beach clerk was not having it.

“I don’t think so,” the clerk said. “I’m not giving you anything.”

The man looked back in disbelief, but ran out the store, according to the 7-Eleven clerk.

“Do you want to die tonight?” were the failed robber’s parting words, according to the clerk’s account.
