FORT MYERS, Fla.- Two separate fires early Monday morning destroyed a home and vehicle.

Both fires were reported around 3:30 a.m. Firefighters say the car fire is considered suspicious and is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s office.

It happened behind a strip mall at 11000 Metro Parkway, near Danley Drive in Fort Myers.

The car’s owner says his 2007 BMW Z4 died a week ago, and he had it towed to Preferred Auto Brokers. They were ordering a part to fix the car when he got the call about the fire.

The South Trail Fire Department says the car was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived but they were able to keep the fire from spreading to the building nearby. There was some heat damage to an SUV next to it.

Firefighters also responded to a separate house fire in North Fort Myers near McNeil Road and Pondella Road. Officials say the home was unoccupied and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
