CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Two men were arrested and are facing charges in connection with a home invasion where shots were fired, the Cape Coral Police Department said.

Norman Edward Hendricks, 20, of 3302 N. Santa Barbara Blvd. in Cape Coral, and Johnathan Christian Romero, 18, of SE 17th Avenue in Cape Coral, were arrested Wednesday. Both face armed robbery and aggravated assault charges and remained in the Lee County jail Thursday under no bond.

Officers responded to a shots fired call on the 900 block of SE 27th Terrace at about 9 p.m. on Monday. A neighbor said they saw several subjects with flashlights break the rear screen door of a nearby home before entering the residence, police said.

There were 10 people inside the residence, including a 5-year-old, when the men broke in, police said.

The suspects sped off, but not before firing several shots at a car in the driveway, neighbors said.

No injuries were reported but three children were in the home when the break-in occurred, police said. The state Department of Children and Families was notified, which is standard procedure, police said.

The home invasion was not random, but an attempt to get back stolen or borrowed cash, police said.

“We are glad to see such a quick apprehension in this case,” police spokesman Det. Sgt. Dana Coston said.
