COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (AP) – A South Florida police officer is accused of inappropriately touching two boys.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office arrested Coconut Creek police officer Daniel Rush on Thursday. He’s charged with custodial sexual battery and two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation.

The Sun Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1Yx7F5k ) reports a boy wrote a note to a parishioner during a church service on Sunday. The boy grabbed the note back, ripped it up and put it in the garbage. But the parishioner took the note, which claimed sexual misconduct last year, and reported it to police Monday.

Detectives interviewed the boy and learned of the other boy. They were 12 and 13 at the time.

Rush, who is on unpaid leave with the agency, remained in jail Friday. Records don’t indicate whether he’s hired a lawyer.
