FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – A South Florida man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for fatally shooting his Xanax supplier.

The Sun Sentinel reports that a Broward County judge sentenced 24-year-old Robert Morris on Friday. He was convicted last month of second-degree murder.

Morris testified that he was afraid for his life when drug dealer Omar Khan pulled a gun on him for failing to make a promised payment in October 2014. Jurors didn’t believe his self-defense claim.

Authorities say co-defendant Roderick Dalton helped Morris get away after the shooting and advised him to get rid of the gun. He is facing a related charge as an accessory after the fact. He remains at large.
