FORT MYERS, Fla.- The man suspected in the disappearance of 9-year-old Diana Alvarez was indicted Wednesday for possession and production of child pornography.

Jorge Guerrero is charged with persuading a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct as well as possessing “one or more” explicit images of a minor, court documents show.

Guerrero was taken into custody just days after Alvarez went missing two weeks ago. Authorities say they found explicit images of an underage girl on his phone.

If convicted, Guerrero faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison on the possession charge, and minimum mandatory sentence of 15 years in federal prison on the production charge.

On Wednesday, an attorney for Alvarez’s family announced the physical search for the 9-year-old is over but the investigation into what happened to her continues.
