Hot, humid weekend, with storms becoming more widespread Monday

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The return of scattered storms to coastal areas of Southwest Florida could be ill-timed for the Fourth of July.

Rain will be mainly east of Interstate 75 on Saturday and Sunday but will spread westward Monday. Still, most of the storms should be finished by nightfall on Independence Day, clearing the way for fireworks.

It’ll be hot throughout the long weekend, with highs in the lower and mid-90s, with heat indexes topping out between 95 and 105. Overnight lows will fall into the mid-70s.
