FORT MYERS, Fla. – Fireworks hit the roof of a San Carlos Park home Monday around noon, catching fire to pine needles and causing minor damage.
The home was located on the 18000 block of Miami Boulevard. One neighbor saw black smoke and was hoping it was a friendly barbecue.
“Told my husband ‘I hope they are having a good cookout and their house isn’t on fire’ but it was the house,” Beverly Brooks said.
Units from San Carlos Park, Estero and Lee County EMS responded to the fire. No injuries were reported.
To avoid similar incidents, authorities suggest keeping your home’s roof clean and only lighting fireworks in open areas.
