Names fade away at Labelle veteran’s memorial as groups plan fundraiser

Published: Updated:

LABELLE, Fla. – A group of veterans said they need help preserving the names of fallen soldiers as bricks laid in their honor have taken a beating from Southwest Florida’s weather at the local veteran’s park.

The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge in Labelle have all rallied behind the cause, which is to build a brand new and expensive granite wall. Those organizations are hosting a fundraising event Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the American Legion, located at 699 W Hickpochee Ave.
