NAPLES, Fla.- One person was injured in a shooting at a Coastland Center parking garage Monday evening, the Naples Police Department said.

The person took a bullet to the face while in a parked vehicle by the Macy’s department store, police said. It is unclear at this time if the shooting was accidental.

The victim was taken to Naples Community Hospital.

Four people were in the car, according to police who say the incident is isolated and the public is not in danger. Police recovered the gun and questioned witnesses for hours while the garage was roped off.

Shoppers were stunned to hear about the incident.

“Oh my God! That’s really scary ’cause I’m thinking if I was here earlier what could have happened,” Naples resident Lucy Briones said. “It’s scary what’s going on in nowadays. Naples is such a small city and you wouldn’t expect for this to be happening.”

The mall is located on Golden Gate Parkway, between Goodlette Frank Road and U.S. 41, and is right across the street from Naples High School.

No further details were immediately available.
