FORT MYERS, Fla. – Allegations of lies and desperation are heating up the race for Congress in Southwest Florida as two candidates question the validity of a recently released poll. The Remington Research survey shows political outsider Francis Rooney leading the contest by a wide margin with 45 percent of support, with Chauncy Goss trailing by 16 points and Dan Bongino by 30. Both candidates pointed out the Remington Research is a subsidiary of Axiom Strategies, which Rooney is paying to help him with his campaign. The Remington Research pollster holds that no one influenced him or the poll results.
