Local couple steps up to help Louisiana flood victims

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A local couple is accepting donations after a husband’s family was hit hard in record Louisiana floods.

But Kyle and Christina Holly Katzenmeyer didn’t want to stop their efforts with family, so they have asked for more donations. Kyle’s family had flood insurance, but Christina Holly said she understands that many other families in the state’s hardest hit areas did not.

“Both of my parents think they probably lost everything,” she said. “That’s what really saved our family up there is that they had the flood insurance and the donations that we’re raising is really to help the people that didn’t.”

Kyle is leaving for Denham Springs on Friday. Those interested in donating to flood victims can drop off items like cleaning and hygiene products before noon to Christina Holly’s law office located at 2077 First Street in Fort Myers.
