LABELLE, Fla. — A driver was killed in a collision with the rear of a semitrailer truck on State Road 80 just east of the Hendry-Lee county line shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The truck had just pulled onto State Road 80 from a driveway near Townsend Canal Road when the driver of a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt, 20-year-old Tomas G. Hernandez, cut into its lane. Hernandez was pronounced dead on scene, according to FHP.
Eastbound lanes on State Road 80 were shut down for a few hours after the crash, which left debris in the roadway.
