Connecticut man drowns during visit to Naples City Pier

NAPLES, Fla. – A man from Farmington, Connecticut, 63-year-old John Dexheimer, drowned Saturday afternoon about 100 feet north of the Naples City Pier, police said.

Dexheimer visited the pier around 1 p.m., according to the Naples Police Department. The police were called just before 5:30 p.m. for a call about an “unresponsive subject” then Dexheimer was taken to Naples Community Hospital.

He was in Southwest Florida for Labor Day weekend.

No further information was immediately available.
