Blue Bell recalls chocolate chip cookie dough products

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Blue Bell Ice Cream is recalling its products with chocolate chip cookie dough over concerns of Listeria contamination, which poses fatal health risks to children, pregnant women and people with weak immune systems.

The company is specifically concerned about chocolate chip cookie dough produced in an Alabama plant. Blue Bell says an ingredient provided by Aspen Hills, Inc. may contain the contamination.

The products produced with the chocolate chip cookie dough were distributed in the Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. No illnesses have been reported.

Blue Bell has a history with Listeria contamination that dates back to 2013. The contamination was reported in 2015 at plants in Oklahoma, Texas and Alabama and were linked to three deaths in Kansas.
