FORT MYERS, Fla. — Florida drivers will soon have a new way to show their love for furry friends. The state Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles unveiled a new Animal Friend specialty license plate design Thursday. The plates are being delivered to tax collector and tag agency offices and will be available to the public Oct. 7. Drivers can get the plates with the new design for a $25 fee on top of the normal registration fees. The proceeds go to fund spay and neuter programs in the state.
