NAPLES, Fla. — Doctors now recommend not getting the flu vaccine before flu season because the effectiveness can wear off quicker. The best time to get the vaccine is between Halloween and Thanksgiving. Delaying the vaccine permits greater immunity later into flu season, according to the Center for Disease Control. However, doctors say it’s better to get the flu shot early than not at all.
