FORT MYERS, Fla. – Former Interim Chief Dennis Eads is retiring after 30 years with the city police department.

Eads’ last day is Oct. 6. He served as interim police chief for nearly a year before Chief Derrick Diggs was selected for the permanent role.

Fort Myers was rocked by shootings at ZombiCon and outside Club Blu during Eads’ tenure. Both incidents gained national attention, but remain unsolved.
