SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. — The Sanibel Island farmers market reopened for the fall season on Sunday. Located at the island’s city hall, local farmers have used the market to sell produce and other items since its founding in 2008. The goal of the market is to keep money in our economy and give people a unique shopping experience, according to organizers Local Roots. “People are having so much fun,” Jean Bauer, co-owner of Local Roots, said. “They’re talking to each other, they’re talking to the vendors. They are seeing their neighbors and it’s just an experience to shop at farmers market. It’s more than just getting the products” The market is open every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There are also other farmers markets throughout the week in Bonita Springs, Estero and Fort Myers.
