Clewiston, Fla. — Glades County is under tropical storm watch and residents are preparing for Hurricane Matthew. County manager Paul Carlisle said he’s placing their emergency operations center on standby in case the storm shifts towards the inland part of the state. “Currently we’re looking at the possibility of tropical storm winds so we’re actively preparing for that,” Carlisle said. The high water levels of Lake Okeechobee is also an added concern if the storm were to make landfall. Glades emergency leaders said they are prepared to declare a local state of emergency if necessary and will activate their emergency operations center.
