CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Lynda Occean, 33, of Cape Coral, was killed in a multi-car crash involving a rollover that closed down all lanes near the 2000 block of N.E. Pine Island Road Thursday night, police said.

Occean drove head on into a second car after she suddenly changed directions, crossing out of the westbound lanes of N.E. Pine Island Road, over the median and into incoming eastbound traffic, according to the Cape Coral Police Department. The driver of the second car, O.J. Lawter Cardet, 40, of Lehigh Acres, and his passengers, Carrie A. Faith, 44, of Lehigh Acres, and Joseph Brunson, 31, of Lehigh Acres, suffered minor injuries, CCPD said. But their car crashed into a third car, police said.

Both cars then careened off the edge of the road and into a ditch, then Cardet’s car rolled over onto its roof, CCPD said.

The driver of the third car, Cesar Yamamota, 18, of North Fort Myers, had only minor injuries, police said.

Occean was pinned in her vehicle and died shortly after 8 p.m., according to CCPD. Her vehicle did not end up in the ditch; it stopped in eastbound traffic, police said.
