CAPTIVA, Fla. — A jetskier who crashed off Captiva and went into cardiac arrest has died, WINK News has learned. Orlando resident Hector Santiago, 24, died after his jetski hit a piling, according to FWC. The handlebars were ripped off in the wreck, which took place not far from South Seas Island Resort. Crews were called to the scene at about 7:20 p.m. and located Santiago after a search. The Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are two of 16 different agencies that were involved in an effort to save Santiago. No further information is immediately available.
