Lee County man arrested after traffic stop leads to discovery of drugs

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A Cape Coral man was arrested Tuesday for possession of drugs and a handgun after a traffic stop, according to Cape Coral Police.

Ignacio Albernas, 20, of 2201 NE 15th Avenue, Cape Coral, Fla., was stopped by police at the 200 block of N.E. 17th Avenue for driving with an expired tag.

Police then discovered Albernas had marijuana, marijuana wax, a marijuana grinder and an illegaly concealed 9 mm handgun beneath the front seat. He was also driving with a suspended license.

Albernas is currently in custody at the Lee County Jail facing charges of possession of marijuana under 20 grams, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, knowingly driving on a suspended license and unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon.
