Former Florida librarian sues city for exploding toilet

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) – A former librarian for a Florida elementary school is suing for negligence alleging a toilet at the school exploded, hitting her with porcelain shards.

According to the lawsuit, Anne Burson says a maintenance crew was working on the water lines at Tarpon Springs Fundamental Elementary in 2012. A toilet exploded earlier in the day, sending pieces of porcelain across the bathroom stall. Workers cleaned the restroom and told her it was safe to use.

The lawsuit says Burson, who turns 69 on Friday, suffered a wound to her leg that resulted in a gouging scar.

A city spokeswoman says they do not comment on active lawsuits.
