Suspect in Pine Manor deputy-involved shooting booked in jail

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A 24-year-old man who was shot while exchanging gunfire with a Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputy was booked into Lee County Jail on Saturday.

Rones Sagesse, 24, of Naples, shot at the deputy during a domestic disturbance in the Pine Manor neighborhood on Wednesday.

After being shot, Sagesse eluded authorities for eight hours before being arrested early Thursday morning.

Sagesse, who was booked after being released from a hospital, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer or firefighter.

No bond has been set.

The sheriff’s office has yet to release the names of the deputies involved.
