Palm tree topples onto car after crash in Naples

NAPLES, Fla. – A driver veered into a median, striking a palm tree that then fell on another car Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

William Balzarini III, 38, of Naples, was driving northbound on Collier Boulevard with his father, William Balzarini Jr., 62, when they crashed into the tree near South Fiddlers Creek Parkway, troopers said.

Dennis Albaugh, 67, of Marco Island was driving southbound, when the tree fell onto his car. He and Susan Albaugh, 64, of Marco Island, were unhurt.

The Balzarinis were taken to  Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, troopers said.

The wreck was not alcohol-related, according to FHP.
