Fake news an issue, but solutions exist

Reporter: Corey Lazar

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The internet is full of hoaxes, but sorting out the truth isn’t always difficult.

Experts say you can avoid getting fooled by fake news websites by carefully checking the site’s address, second-guessing absurd headlines and looking for the date the story was posted.

You can also consult resources like Snopes.com and CNET’s guide, and download Google Chrome browser extensions that weed out false reports.
