NAPLES, Fla. — A 57-year-old woman was arrested Monday for allegedly punching her sleeping roommate and breaking his phone when he tried to call the police, Naples police said.

Officers found Jennifer Dewire stumbling outside an apartment on 4776 West Boulevard at around 1:35 a.m. after a call was made about a woman yelling inside the community.

She was slurring her words and smelled like alcohol, police reports showed.

Jeffrey Maxwell, Dewire’s roommate, showed officers an black eye and a broken phone, saying he kept Dewire’s car keys so she wouldn’t drive while intoxicated.

Dewire told police she and Maxwell had been living together for three years, but she didn’t admit to hitting him.

Dewire is facing a misdemeanor battery charge and a felony charge of obstructing justice. She’s been arrested five times and is currently in custody with a $15,000 bond, jail records show.
