FORT MYERS, Fla. – United States Army Major Vince Cummings of Cape Coral was greeted by his girlfriend and a group of grateful strangers Friday when he returned from deployment.
The homecoming was arranged by Operation Open Arms as a redo after Cummings’ father passed during the soldier’s flight home in 2015.
This time around, Cummings was welcomed with smiles, signs and American flags.
Cummings said he was thankful to be home, calling his homecoming “the finishing touch in what we call ‘mission complete.'”
