FORT MYERS, Fla. — Discrepancies in weather forecasts sent to the crew of the sunken freighter that claimed the lives of four Lee County men could explain why the captain took the boat into the path of a hurricane.

The National Transportation Safety Board on Tuesday released a 500-page transcript — the longest the history of the agency — from the voice recorder on the El Faro. All 33 crew members were killed when the ship went down in 2015.
