FORT MYERS, Fla. — A massive house fire temporarily shut down the westbound lanes of McGregor Boulevard Saturday evening. Gerald Mittag, who lives nearby, said he saw the home explode and flames shoot up about 25 to 30 feet into the air. “We looked that way and the flames shot about, just like exploded,” he said. “Everything was all fire back there.” Nobody was home at the time of the fire as the home had been vacant for 10 years, another neighbor said. The garage was damaged and no injuries were reported. No further information was immediately available.
