HUDSON, Fla. — A 30-year-old man is accused of hitting and choking his pregnant girlfriend and choking her 4-pound chihuahua until it defecated and passed out.

Jeremy Mora of Hudson was arrested and is facing battery, assault and animal cruelty charges, CBS affiliate WTSP-TV reports. Mora threatened to kill the woman while he was opening and closing a pocket knife, the victim told Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies.

She suffered minor injuries when he cut her hand with the knife, the sheriff’s office said.

The condition of the dog is unclear.
