NAPLES, Fla. — A dog who appeared on national television as a K-9 officer for the Collier County Sheriff’s Office died Friday, the sheriff’s office said.

Jorry was part of the force from 2007 until 2013, when health problems forced him into retirement. He had been battling cancer and was about 11 years old at the time of his death, according to the sheriff’s office.

The dog was featured on episodes of “Forensic Files” and “Cold Case Files” and on the covers of two national veterinary magazines, the sheriff’s office said.

Jorry lived with Cpl. Shannon Patton, who adopted him after the dog retired. Patton and the dog previously worked together on numerous arrests and investigations.
