PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.  One person is dead after a crash Wednesday at 1434 Fireside St., the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Aaron Wesley, 43, of Port Charlotte, was killed when his 2003 Kawasaki KX85 dirtbike collided with a 2001 Chevy Suburban backing out of a driveway around 5:19 p.m., according to the FHP.

The driver of the Chevy didn’t see Wesley approaching, the FHP said. The crash forced Wesley off the dirtbike and onto the grass by the side of the road.

While it’s not clear if the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck, Wesley was not wearing a helmet, the FHP said.

An investigation is underway to determine if alcohol was involved. Charges are pending.
