HOLIDAY, Fla. An alligator was found in a furniture store parking lot, dragged through the store and placed in a lake by Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies Wednesday.

The gator was initially spotted under a car with a University of Florida Gators sticker on one of its windows, as a photo the sheriff’s office posted to its Facebook page shows.

Managers at the American Freight Furniture and Mattress store on 2607 U.S. 19 offered to let deputies take the gator through the showroom, since the path around the building would have been three times as long, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies put a leash around the alligator’s neck and dragged it along the showroom’s floor and out the back door, as shown in a video from Peter Soto, who assisted in the effort. It’s unclear if the gator was tranquilized.

The gator was ultimately placed in the lake behind the store, the sheriff’s office said.
