Credit card data may have been stolen from two Lee County hotels, their parent company warned. Several InterContinental Hotels Group franchisees across the country were alerted to patterns of unauthorized charges to credit and debit cards that were used at front desks between Sept. 29 and Dec. 29 last year, the company said. Hotel Indigo at 1520 Broadway in Fort Myers and the Crowne Plaza at 13051 Bell Tower Drive in south Fort Myers were among the affected hotels. A malware program is believed to have searched for data read from the magnetic stripe of the cards as they were routed through the hotel servers, IHG said. Scammers may have gotten cardholder names, card numbers, expiration dates and internal verification codes. IHG is offering more information to U.S. residents at 855-330-6367 and for residents outside the U.S. at 800-290-9989 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays. Guests who stayed at the hotel during the affected date range should also check their Equifax, Experian and TransUnion credit scores, IHG said.
